Label TextToyokuni, like his student Kunisada, created a huge number of prints of actors. Here the Bando Mitsugoro plays the part of a samurai warrior on the beach. The bow, and the crest of the Kamakura Shogunate onhis costume suggest that this might be an image of the tale of Minamoto no Yorimasa, a famous warrior and poet of the 1100s.
