Label TextWith the reintroduction of bone china into the repertoire of the Wedgwood pottery in the late 18th century, new forms of decoration also began to be explored. One of the most successful was lustre decoration which began to be made in 1914 when 10 original patterns were introduced. These patterns included exotic or “oriental” motifs, animals, and decorative borders. Fish were added in 1915 along with the popular Fairyland pattern. Fairyland was the creation of Daisy Makeig-Jones and included lively imps, fairies, and woodland scenery. She would be the driving force behind the creation of lustre for the next 15 years, reaching its height of popularity in the 1920s.
