Label TextArtist Statement:
People always want to know where creative ideas come from. I'm not sure except that after a summer under the hot Kansas sun and looking over an ocean of golden grain, when it is possible to see throught wind-driven dust and chaff, many images pass across my mind during the 16 to 18 hour harvest day. Many visions are of organized or natural designs often disturbed when working around an old wallow void of buffalo, near barbed wire over the bones of cowboys, farmers, and the Kiowa Nation, past areas made barren by the oil industry, and the missing tons of top soil some factions of government are encouraging to be eroded off the high plains. Upon returning to the tanks, hot as the prairie sun, I simply try to give some dignity to a ball of molten glass. -Vernon Brejcha, c. 1975
