Label TextFaience is a tin glaze composed of a vitreous lead glaze made opaque by the addition of tin oxide. After firing it forms a dense white surface and makes a background for painted decoration. The sauceboat is shaped in the European Rococo style. The Chinese influence is evident in the landscape with a pagoda in the background.
