Label TextBy the T'ang Period the reddish stoneware bodies of the Han Period were covered with a coating of white slip before they were glazed. Using the clear glazes as a base iron-oxide was added to produce a tan or straw color. The light-colored slip gives the translucent glaze a brighter and truer color.
