Label TextThese porcelain objects are in the Chinoiserie style. Late in the 19th Century, the surface design was enhanced by overlaying gold leaf over the under glaze blue design, thus reflecting the Victorian aesthetic of opulence and excess.
MarkingsIn base center, crossed swords of underglaze blue. On inner base wall, a Meissen artist's mark or perhaps a cancellation mark, denoting slightly inferior ware that could be sold to "Hausmalers".
