Label TextVining flowers and leaves sculpted in high relief and applied to the exterior of the vases provide a visual clue to the contents of the jar. Inspired by Oriental ceramics, Blanc de Chine, or white porcelain, was popular in Europe. Lidded jars held moist or dried flowers and herbs to add pleasant fragrances to the air.
MarkingsPseudo St.Cloud mark (the "e" is an addition) (Haggar p415). Perhaps a modeller's mark and another mark incised near edge of base center.
