Label TextJames L. Geddes was the first Treasurer 1884-87 at Iowa Agricultural College and first professor of Military Science and Tactics 1870-84. The painting is a frontal view to his waist, he is facing to the left. He wears a suit with a shirt that has a high starched collor. Portrait is in silver painted ornate frame. He was born in Scotland March 19, 1827and died in February 1887. Portrait was presented to ISU by descendents of Geddes.
