Label TextThis woodcut is of a large inn in the woods of rural Massachusetts. The Wayside Inn has gone through numerous name changes and owners and currently is a non-profit enterprise. The Inn itself was expanded in the 1920s and 30s by Henry Ford to incorporate an entire village: including a mill, school, and chapel. Writer Henry Longfellow visited the Wayside Inn in 1862 and after his visit wrote Tales of a Wayside Inn, 1862. (www.wayside.org)
