Label TextJohn James Audubon went on an expedition to the Missouri River in 1843. He wanted to create a comprehensive study of all mammals in North America. Between 1845 and 1848; with the help of his son, John W. Audubon, they were able to produce a set of stunning lithographs engraved by Philadelphia printmaker J.T. Bowen. Finished with hand color, the fine detail and character of each animal come alive in every print. "The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America" was completed just three years before Audubon's death.
