Label TextThe nude was not a common subject in Petersen's art, although it is clear that he understood figure well. he back of the woman in this drawing is similar to a sculpture which he produced in the early days of World War II that it is regarded as a study for it. The sculpture is a frontal view of a woman with her child, but the drawing of the woman from the back suggests how thoroughly Petersen planned and developed his ideas.
