Label TextWilliam Morris received his degrees from California State University at Chico and Central Washington University. He lives in Seattle where he originally worked as Dale Chihuly's gaffer (master glassblower) in the early 1980s. In the late 1980s Morris began producing independently and has created several series of glass sculptures. Technically accomplished, he frequently combines cast and blown glass in objects with complex surface ornament. Morris' work has been strongly influenced by his interest in archeology and ancient pagan cultures. Morris' glass sculptures are part of the permanent collections of many museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the American Craft Museum, New York; the Louvre, Paris, France; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England.
