Dwight KirschAmerican, 1899 - 1981
Kirsch received his M.A. at the University of Nebraska. He studied at the Art Students League in New York City with artist Robert Henri and Alexander Calder, and at Parsons School of Design. He was a member of the Nebraska Arts Association, American Association of University Professors, and the Lincoln Arts Guild. Kirsch was artist-in-residence at Iowa State University following Christian Petersen's death in the 1960s. Kirsch painted a mural in the bank at Oskaloosa in 1953. He was head of the Des Moines Arts Center in the early 1950s and formerly head of Art at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. As an artist, his style has been classified as Regionalist, and he painted landscapes, still lifes, and figures.
