Ginn & Company was founded in the 1880s as an education publishing house. The firm was purchased in 1985-86 by Simon & Schuster. In 1998 all the Simon & Schuster educational businesses, including Ginn & Company, were sold to Pearson, which formed a new company called Pearson Education.
