George Longfish

Longfish, Seneca and Tuscarora, was born in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, on August 22, 1942.[1] Ohsweken is a village on the Six Nations on the Grand River First Nation Indian Reserve. George Chester Longfish grew up near Gowanda, New York, and later studied at the Fine Arts School of the Art Institure of Chicago. He has presented many shows over the years and has exhibited works across the nation. His emphasis in Native American Contemporary Art and Culture has made him a leading expert in Native American Studies. Since, 1973 he was taught Native American Studies at the Unversity of California-Davis.
