Cheng Shan-Hsi
Cheng Shan-Hsi 郑善禧 was born in Fujian province China in 1932. He moved to Taiwan at a very early age. In 1960, he graduated from the National Normal School of Taiwan in, where he ended up teaching later in his life.
In 1963, with He Huaishuo, Chu Ge, Huang Zhaohu, and Lo Ching (Pinyin Luo Qing), he founded the Ink Painting Society, which played a role in promoting the movement of abstract ink painting.
In 1981 he visited the Brunnier Art Museum and participated in a program where he created a sheet of rice paper showing early form of Chinese calligraphy, which is still in the collection of the Brunnier. A few years later, in 1983, he travelled to India and Nepal and brought back many paintings.
