LundsEnglish (Bristol, England), 1749 - 1752
One of the more enigmatic early English porcelain manufactories is the Lund’s (Miller and Lund’s) Bristol concern at Bristol. Formerly known as Redcliffe Backs or Lowdins, this pothouse is generally believed to have been in existence from around the date of the soaprock licence awarded to one of its proprietors, Benjamin Lund, on March 7th, 1749 (Gregorian) through to the date of the buyout by Richard Holdship of the Lund’s soaprock licence in February 6th, 1752 (Gregorian) and the purchase of stock, utensils, and effects of the factory on February 21st, 1752 (Gregorian).
