Karl MatternGerman-American, 1892 - 1969
Mattern studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Art Students League of New York. He was a member of the Faculty of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts (1922-23), Associate Professor of Art at the University of Kansas (1925-48), Professor of Drawing and Painting at Drake University (1948-62), Visiting Professor of Art at Simpson College (1962-63).
