Louis BettsAmerican, 1873 - 1961

Portrait painter born on October 5, 1873 in Little Rock, AK. His father was E.D. Betts, a landscape artist and his mother was also an artist. Studied abroad in France, England, Holland, Spain and Madrid after his education at the Chicago Institute of Art and the Pennsyvania Academy of Fine Art under William Merritt Chase who encouraged him to become an Impressionist.

Betts died in 1961 in NYC.
