Artist Info
Louis Comfort TiffanyAmerican, 1848 - 1933

Tiffany worked with Arthur and Douglas Nash to develop new artistic styles in Art Nouveau taste. Inspired by Gallé. Known for his iridescent glass and also for stained glass windows and lighting fixtures.

Tiffany is best known for his designs of glass vessels, lamps and windows, but he also created various other media including metal work, furniture, jewelry and ceramics. His career spanned over five decades.

Critics often accused Tiffany of betraying artistic principles for commercialism. His means of prduction led to the creation of beautiful objects in mass quantities not produced by traditional factory methods.
