Thomas Nelson and Sons

The firm of Thomas Nelson was founded in Edinburgh in 1798, and continued as an independent business until it was acquired by the Thomson Organization in 1960. In 1969 the firm was divided. The US subsidiary was sold to Sam Moore, and continues as a Christian publishing house based in Nashville (see www.thomasnelson.com). The UK firm of Thomas Nelson was merged with Stanley Thornes in 2000 to form Nelson Thornes. Nelson Thornes is now part of the international Wolters Kluwer group.
