Owen Meredith

Born in London and son of novelist Bulwer- Lytton. In 1849, Meredith attempted suicide. Publishes first volume of verse under pseudonym "Owen Meredith" in 1855. Married Edith Villiers on October 4, 1864 and a son is born in 1865 with a duaghter in 1867. Another duaghter is born in 1869 and they are all transferred to Madrid. His only son dies in 1871 from whooping cough but a second son is born in 1872. In 1874 his second son dies and they have another duaghter that same year. in 1876, Meredith is appointed Viceroy of India and a third son is born that year with another in 1879. In 1885 "Glenaveril" is published which is semi-autobiographical. Meredith died in 1891 with his wife dying in 1936.
