Artist Info
Sue Cornelison(American, b. 1955)

Sue Cornelison grew up in Libertyville, Illinois. As a child, she loved to climb trees, build forts, do gymnastics, but most of all, she LOVED to draw!

After earning her BFA from Drake University in Art Studio and Art Education, she traveled to Florence, Italy to further her art studies at The International School of Studio Arts. She married her husband, Ross, a jazz musician, and together they raised a family of six children. She taught high school art, designed craft projects, cross stitch designs, spun wool, made felted hats, clay pots, carved clay bas relief sculptures, painted portraits, illustrated many book covers, but what she enjoys most of all is writing and illustrating books for children.

For the past twenty years, in her spare time, Sue has enjoyed coaching children. In 1991, she started a competitive trampoline and power tumbling team in St. Charles, Iowa. The team performs for college half time shows and competes in State and National competitions.

Sue and Ross currently reside in a small rural town in Madison County, Iowa, in a century old three-story Victorian home. Ross is turning the old carriage house into her art studio and she can’t wait!
