Karen Strohbeen

Karen Strohbeen and Bill Luchsinger, two of the Midwest ‘s most successful fine artists, have graced the world with their innovative artwork for more than 50 years. Creating their first prints in 1970, they were among the originators of the digital printmaking art form and continue to push the limits of the genre.

Strohbeen and Luchsinger have melded their lifelong love of gardening with their expertise in photography and computer processes to create sculpture, photos, and prints on paper, canvas and ceramic tile. Their artwork can be found in residential and corporate collections around the world.

They also the host and produce “The Perennial Gardener with Karen Strohbeen,” on PBS. The television program showcases the beautiful gardens of their impressive 80 acre farm, often the inspiration for their artwork. Both Strohbeen and Luchsinger graduated from Drake University. In 1996, they received the Garden Club of America’s Eloise Payne Luquer Medal for special achievement in the field of botany. Luchsinger is a Member at Large of the Garden Club of America. Both artists also continue to create art individually in their various mediums.
