Amber O’Harrow(American, b. 1970)

Amber O’Harrow moved to Iowa after working as an artist in the UK and France for almost two decades. She received her BFA in Textile Design and Fiber Art from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1991, where she began her exploration into natural forms and new weaving techniques. In 2010, she received her MA and MFA from the University of Iowa in Metal Arts, 3-D Design, and Sculpture, where she developed new ways of integrating materials and processes to form her art. Amber O’Harrow’s art has been exhibited in shows across the US and Europe and has work in a variety of permanent collections from the Grassi Museum for Applied Arts in Leizig, Germany, to the Coralville Performing Arts Center in Iowa, USA. She works in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, placing a strong emphasis on textile structures and natural forms. She considers herself an integrated medium artist, working in many techniques and materials in order to express her work in a clearer and more intuitive way.
