Maude Robinson(American, 1879-1960)

Maude Robinson, a potter and teacher of pottery, died Tuesday in her studio-apartment at 175 East Seventy-first Street. She was 81 years old. Miss Robinson also maintained a home in Sharon, Conn. In addition to teaching the art of pottery, she was for thirty-two years director of the pottery department of Greenwich House, retiring in 1942. She not only supervised the teaching at the settlement's pottery department, but also planned and directed the opening of the Greenwich House Pottery Shop at 645 Madison Avenue, where the products of the department were sold. Miss Robinson studied pottery at the Art Students League of New York and at the Sophie Newcombe College Art School in New Orleans. She was a technical consultant to the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York and a member of the Cosmopolitan Club of New York. She leaves a sister, Mrs. J. William Jones of Corning, N. Y.
