Wellsville China

The Wellsville company purchased the abandoned Pioneer Pottery company works and by 1912 was producing plain and decorated semi-porcelain, dinner and toilet wares, tea sets, cuspidors and other accessories and specialty items. Vitreous hotel ware was added in 1933. Controlling interest passed to Sterling China in 1959 and the company closed in 1969. Many marks appear, featuring the pattern name and "Wellsville China", sometimes appearing as "W.C.Co."
