Zanesville Stoneware Co.

Much of the art pottery from Zanesville Stoneware Co. is not marked, but most of it, especially earlier objects, are very heavy, have thin runny glaze, distinctive yellowish clay on the bottom, and pinpops in the glaze. This company did not like to mark their pottery because imported pottery had to be marked with the country of origin, therefore, Zanesville felt it was not necessary to mark their pottery since it was American made.
