Born in 1929, Stella Teller has had a long career as a creator of ceramic figures, most often human and animal storytellers. She also likes to paint her figures with their eyes closed. Stella has created many storytellers over the years. She expanded her repertoire to include Navajo, Hopi and Apache men and women. She's been credited with creating the first Navajo storyteller.
