Artist's Statement

My art speaks of my life and general human experience through the imagery of symbols, such as the sled, the gate, the deer, the bear and the hammock, to name a few. Spontaneity, experimentation with materials, and a strong drypoint line are hallmarks of my style. My varied drypoint monoprint editions are small (15 to 20 prints) as my main interest centers on moving forward with new ideas rather than repeating what has already been discovered.

My most recent body of work is a series of 40 mixed media prints/drawings of squirrels, an animal with a relatively simple life compared to ours. The pieces are layered combinations of prints on silk, rice paper, and cotton rag over, or under, drawings on clear and matte Mylar. Photogravure is also incorporated to give the works greater dimension.
