Pat Edwards
Pat Edwards is an independent artist living in Des Moines. Pat paints in oil on small-scale panels and large canvases to create intimate backyard scenes. Loosely painted, her images conjure up a nostalgic mood of peaceful summer days. The manner in which she portrays light and shadow help define the mood and time of day in each painting. Although often small in scale, these paintings can be read at a distance, but the intimate size invites the viewer to inspect at a closer range. Pat received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in art from The University of Iowa. In addition to teaching she has also served as an artist-in-residence through the Iowa Arts Council. Pat's work has been exhibited at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Bemis Center for the Arts, Davenport Museum of Art, Groveland Gallery in Minneapolis, and Des Moines Art Center.
