Bruce White(American, 1933-2025)

Bruce White passed away in the early hours of August 31, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1933.

Bruce was a sculptor and a professor, a devoted husband and cherished father. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees at Columbia University in New York City, he taught at Florida State University, Garden City High School, Queens College, and Adelphi University. He was a tenured art professor at Northern Illinois University from 1967 to 1996.

After retirement from teaching, he focused exclusively on sculpting. He would want to be remembered for his art, primarily his large-scale public sculptures, which can be seen across the U.S., as well as in Sweden.

He is survived by his wife Gail White, his children Jennifer, Amanda and Matthew White, his 9 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, as well as the many artists he taught, inspired and encouraged.
