Honore Victorin DaumierFrench, 1808 - 1879
Honore Victorin Daumier was born on February 26, 1808. Studies under Alexandre Lenoir, who exposes him to Rubens and Titian. Later Daumier studies at the Academie Suisse and the School of Boudin. In 1830, Daumier did his first political caricature. In 1832, he is arrested with two other caricaturists for being against the King. In 1834, he creates prints for "Charivari" and "La Caricature". In 1846 he marries Marie Alexandrine Dassy after the birth of his first son who then dies in 1848. Daumier stops his work in 1873 when he goes blind from old age. He then died at Valmondois at the age of 71 on February 10, 1879.
Arsene Alexandre published the first biography of Daumier in 1888 and Daumier's wife dies in 1895 at the age of 72.
