Don Freeman

Born in San Diego, raised in St. Louis, Freeman started out to be a trumpet player. When he switched to art, he studied under John Sloan & John Steuart Curry, among others. He free lanced in New York. He did a number of lithographs of theatrical subjects, some for AAA, some for WPA. He later became well known as an illustrator, especially of children's books.
