Label TextStakey (‘57 home economics education) served as an Extension Home Economist in Cass County and Adams County. Later she became an Extension Assistant in Webster County, Hamilton County and Wright County. In 1977 she joined the State 4-H Staff as a Program Assistant and later a Program Specialist until her retirement in 2001. Among the recognitions she has received are the College of Home Economics Helen LeBaron Hilton Award, the ISU Alumni Association Superior Service Award, the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents Distinguished Service Award, the American Spirit Award and 25 years of service award, the Carroll Ringenburg Award and the Jerry Parsons 4-H Youth Development Professional Award. In 2001 Shirley received the Iowa 4-H Alumni Award at the Iowa State Fair.
