Label TextNebbe (‘97 political science, English, biology) as an “ambassador for Iowa for Iowans,” Nebbe is the host of Iowa Public Radio’s daily Talk of Iowa show and Iowa Public Television’s Iowa Ingredient, which introduces viewers to Iowa grown foods and Iowa chefs. Nebbe began her career in public radio at age 19 when she joined WOI Radio on the Iowa State University campus as a board operator. Though she started out as a self-described “button-pusher” on the midnight to 5:00 a.m. shift, she quickly earned respect from her mentors and eventually a position as a WOI morning show producer. Nebbe went on to work for Michigan Radio in Ann Arbor, Mich., for ten years before returning to Iowa as the host of Talk of Iowa in 2010, an Iowa Public Radio daily show that focuses on Iowa arts, culture and lifestyle. Nebbe’s gift for helping people share and discover their personal stories, her passion for radio’s intimate voice and her genuine love for Iowa’s landscape and culture help Iowans connect every day to the past, present and future of Iowa.
