Label TextLocated at the epicenter of the art pottery movement in Zanesville, OH, the Zanesville Stoneware Co. was influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement as well as the high profile and successful potteries in the region. Much of the art pottery from Zanesville Stoneware Co. is not marked, but most of it, especially earlier objects, are very heavy, have thin runny glaze, distinctive yellowish clay on the bottom, and bubbles or pin-pops in the glaze. This company did not like to mark their pottery because imported pottery had to be marked with the country of origin, therefore, Zanesville felt it was not necessary to mark their pottery since it was American made.
