Not on viewLabel TextChristian Petersen sculpted this portrait of Francis McCray when both artists were working on the Public Works of Art Project. McCray's main responsibility was developing mural-scale drawings of the figures based on Wood's smaller designs and studies for the Iowa State library murals. As the Project went on, Wood invested still more authority in McCray until by 1937, when the mural Breaking the Prairie was being painted, McCray was the supervisor for that project.
