On viewLabel TextThis work of art was designed by the artist in honor of his future wife, Diane Hyland. The artist was enrolled at ISU from 1972-76 and took a sculpture class from Dr. Paul Shao. With Dr. Shao's support, the artist completed the design in 1975. The artist fabricated the piece in a machine shop in Baxter, Iowa that he had worked at previously. When the piece was completed it was displayed temporarily, with FOCUS works on campus. It was then moved to C Y Stephens auditorium. The University Bank & Trust then purchased the piece from the artist in honor of the Knudson family in 1978. It remains in the same location in CY Stephens Auditorium.
