Label TextHelen LeBaron Hilton (1910-1993) earned her B.S. degree from the University of Vermont, Masters from Cornell, and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Recognized as a worldwide visionary leader in the home economics profession, she was an articulate advocate for enhancing the status of women and the well-being of families and children. LeBaron Hilton was the first chairperson of the Association of Administrators of Home Economics, of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and first member of the American Home Economics Association Foundation of Board of Trustees established to raise and administer funds to advance home economics. Hilton received the first Family and Consumer Science Honorary Alum degree in 1993. Her bequest of over 1.4 million dollars established the first endowed chair in the Family and Consumer Sciences College in 1995 enabling the College to pursue priority areas central to its mission.
