Label TextThe popular novel “Seventeen” by Booth Tarkington inspired Carl Ed to produce a comic strip “Harold Teen” in 1919. Harold the perennial teenager and his sweetheart Lillums were the main characters along with Pop Jinks, Horace, Beezie, Grandpa Teen, and Shadow Smart. Two feature films were produced from the strip, one a silent version and in 1933 a talkie. By the late 1950s, “Harold Teen” was dated. The strip was discontinued in 1959.
