Label TextFrom the University Museums Collections Handbook, vol. 2, 2025:
Priscilla Sage creates sculptural fabric works of art and this sample of preparatory materials illustrates Sage’s method of applying color to her three-dimensional hanging fabric sculptures. Using mylar and other reflective materials to create visual movement alongside the folded and quilted fabric, the application of color is crucial to the work of the artist.
This preparatory study for the final installation in the Dean’s Suite, College of Health and Human Sciences, is used by University Museums as archival information on the work of art and in exhibitions on the artistic process and material adaptation. Sage is an Ames-based artist with multiple public art installations across campus and works of sculpture in the permanent collection.
