Born 1932 Farnhamville, Iowa. B.F.A. Drake University, M.F.A., University of Wisconsin, Madison. 1992 Teaches at Drake University. Known for founding and organization of Drake University's national Biennial Printmaking Symposium. Black has had 15 solo exhibitions and has work in over 200 national, regional and international exhibitions. Works are also in 38 museums and public collections. Admired for his mastery of color intaglio and his highly personal imagery.
