Leonard BaskinAmerican, 1922 - 2000
Leonard Baskin was born August 15, 1922 in New Brunswick, NJ and grew up in Brooklyn, NYC. Baskin was educated at a Jewish religious school (a yeshiva) and studied at Yale from 1941 to 1943. He received his B.A. at the New School for Social Research in 1949. Basking spent time abroad from 1950-1951 and then began teaching printmaking and sculpture at Smith College in Northampton, Mass. in 1953. He remained there till 1974, when he then moved to England and stayed until returning to America in 1983.
Baskin died on June 3, 2000.
