"APT Elder of Chicago was lately sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment at Joliet and to pay a fine of $500 The charge upon which he was convicted was that of carrying on fraudulent publishing business under the name the Elder Company This is the man who several years ago started a monthly magazine called Literary Life and who induced Miss Rose Elizabeth Cleveland to become its editor After a few numbers were published she discovered the character of the man and refused to be connected with it."
