Not on viewLabel TextLike Bertrand Adams, Francis McCray was among the PWAP artists who worked on Grant Wood's designs for Iowa State College library early in 1934. He was one of Wood's closest and most sympathetic colleagues and he oversaw the final installation of the library murals. McCray and Christian Petersen formed a friendship after their time together on the New Deal project and McCray was an admirer of Petersen's sculptures. McCray was himself a highly accomplished artist, much of whose art is now unlocated.
