Label TextTwo figures in goggles and gloves pour molten steel into molds. The composition is arranged to maximize drama. Variation between lights and darks, as well as the silhouettes in the foreground, and figures to the side, all help to accentuate how bright the center of interest, the cauldron, is. Steel was the nexus of expansion during the Depression, helping to cheaply create the many skyscrapers and bridges that appeared during the 1930s.
