Label TextWith a skill for mathematics Henry Scholte Nollen (1866–1942) excelled in the insurance business. In 1893 he was hired as an auditor at the Insurance Association. Eventually the company become Bankers Life (now Principal Financial) and Nollen advanced through the company's leadership ranks until company founder Edward Temple's death. He was then forced out of his leadership role in December 1912, and resigned to become vice president of Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, a rival firm. By 1921 Nollen had become Equitable's president, a position he held for many years.
