Not on viewLabel TextAmon gthe distinguished people sculpted by Petersen was Helena Benitez, who visited Iowa State when she was Dean of the Women's University in the Philippines. Benitezrose to become the President of Philippines Women's University system and is now the Chair of the Board of Trustees. She was elected to the Senate of the Congress of the Philippines and served as Minister of State for Education. She has been the Chair of the United Nations Commission of the Status of Women and President of the Governing Council of the United Nations Environment Program. Photographs show that Benitez went to Petersen's studio to have her portrait modeled, and she recalled that he may have also done a sculpture of her hands.
