Label Text"Mr. and Mrs. Mallard," more than any other of Darling's prints, has a storybook quality that he recognized in giving it the title. One wonders whether Robert McCloskey's children's classic, "Make way for Ducklings," has more than a coincidental relationship with the picture. The drawing here is sinuous and stylized, in contrast with the roughly drawn trees and grasses. The copper plate is extant.
